The Cathedral of Northern Lights is designed by Norwegian Link Signatur Architects in cooperation with Danish Architects Schmidt/Hammer/Lassen, for the Church of Norway, Alta parish. After a 36 months construction period, the Cathedral of Northern Lights was consecrated the 10th of february 2013.
The Cathedral is first and foremost the new main church for the Parish in Alta. A place for worship, praying and music, as well as weddings, funerals and other activities in the daily life of the Congegration. It also contains offices for the employes.
But the Cathedral of the Northern Lights is also an architectural landmark and a fitting environment for observation of the Northern Lights.
